K R Market, also known as Krishnarajendra Market or City Market, is Bangalore's largest wholesale market for commodities. Named after Krishnarajendra Wodeyar, a former ruler of Mysore, it's situated in the Kalasipalya area, near the Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, at the junction of Mysore Road and Krishnarajendra Road. Notably, it was the first place in Asia to be electrified and is among the continent's largest flower markets. Established in 1928, the market's site has historical significance, having been a water tank and a battlefield during the 18th-century Anglo-Mysore Wars. Today, it features a modern three-story concrete structure, built in the 1990s between two older British-era buildings, to accommodate more vendors and improve conditions. The market is organized with flowers and vegetables on the lower ground floor, dry goods on the upper ground floor, and tools and machine-tools accessories on the first floor, alongside an underground parking facility.
