Owing to overnight resurfacing work along Essex Regiment Way and Broomfield Road, Chelmsford route 40 is being forced onto a massive diversion. I happened to need to sort a few things out cash wise (yes I know it was late but depositing cash in cash machines is essential) and I so happen to live near to the new Channels estate so thought I’d take the opportunity (knowing the right people helps too) while I had it. Leaving the Channels Estate, the route is being forced northbound to the Sheepscoat roundabout (the roundabout the 70 and 42B use to get to and from Little Waltham up to Braintree) before following Main Road right the way down to Skerry Rise. As well as that, Broomfield Road being closed from Skerry Rise and Parkway diverts the 40/42s/70/352 down Chelmer Valley Way. Usual journey time for this route is 8-12 mins, however the diversion resulted in a nearly 20 minutes overall journey time! End result: Driver trying his hardest to keep to timetable by battering this (the worst of the 57s MMCs) at every available opportunity - baring in mind he turned into a 57A when he got to the bus station! Hope you enjoy something different!
