The swearing-in ceremony of MCAs at the Kisumu county assembly was momentarily halted following an order that barred 4 nominated MCAs from taking the oath of office leading to a standoff and heightened tension after protests from a cross-section of MCAs. this forced the clerk to ignore the order and proceed with the swearing-in of the four. The four are said to have gone against the party’s directive on who to vote for in the speaker’s race.
