This song was specifically written for Jyrya, book 4 of the Swordflower Saga. It is a Good Friday song sung during the Jyrye holiday of Pasyaltide which occurs during the Hiding. Pasyaltide celebrates the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, his death and resurrection, his ascension into heaven, and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
The Light Shone in the Darkness
By M. B. Aznoe
The light shone in the darkness,
and we beheld Him not.
The Word dwelt among us,
and we beheld Him not.
Visage of love, come down from above.
The light shone in the darkness,
and we beheld Him not.
The bruised reed was broken,
and we beheld Him not.
The love of God spoken,
and we beheld Him not.
the sins of all men, were placed upon Him,
The brusied reed was broken,
and we beheld Him not.
The day has turned to darkness,
for we beheld Him not.
We're cursed for our blindness,
for we beheld Him not.
the Son of mortal womb, is placed now in a tomb,
The day has turned to darkness,
for we beheld Him not.
