On 29 June 1994, Diana, Princess of Wales wore the now-famous "revenge dress" while attending a charity dinner.

That same evening, a TV documentary entitled 'Charles: The Private Man, The Public Role' was broadcast to Britain and the world. In the much-anticipated interview, the Prince of Wales admitted to being unfaithful to Diana.

The dress, designed by Christina Stambolian, had been in Diana's wardrobe for three years before the charity dinner at London's Serpentine Gallery. Having reportedly previously felt the dress was "too daring", the Princess of Wales decided at the last minute to wear it as "revenge" for Charles' public admission of adultery.
