There are two main categories of experimental error. The first is Systematic error, where measurements are affected by systematic flaws in equipment or methodology. This results in the measurement values being offset by the same amount or by the same proportion each time a measurement is taken. The second type of error is Random error which causes one measurement to differ slightly from the next. It comes from unpredictable changes during an experiment.
