The First Offender Act covers a wide variety of crimes. It allows you to have the charge dismissed and come off your record once you successfully complete your sentence. Unbeknownst to many, while you can use it for serious felonies such as burglary or aggravated assault, you cannot use it for a misdemeanor DUI.
