Itanos beaches are located 96 kilometers east of Agios Nikolaos city 26 kilometer east of Sitia and just 2 kilometers north of the famus palm forest and beach Vai at the east coast of Crete
Itanos beaches are 3 bays mostly sandy and with stones too in some places.
In the same area was the ancient city of Itanos that the ruins are everywhere around,also part of the ancient city is found under water and that gives you one more motive for snorkeling in the light green-blue crystal clear waters.
The beaches are not organized and are not very busy so is sugested for people who want a peacefull beach to swimm in opposition with Vai that is near and is extreme crowded, these two places can be easily combined in a day excursion.
