With Japanese investment, heavy industries flourished and in a matter of years, Malaysian exports became the country's primary growth engine. Malaysia is an upper-middle income country. The manufacturing sector, including electronics, has emerged as the leading economic sector, followed by agriculture (agriculture, livestock, forestry and fisheries), and the retailing and hospitality sectors.
Exports The top exports of Malaysia are Integrated Circuits ($65B), Refined Petroleum ($15.9B), Palm Oil ($10.6B), Semiconductor Devices ($8.67B), and Rubber Apparel ($8.25B), exporting mostly to China ($38.7B), Singapore ($36.5B), United States ($33.8B), Hong Kong ($18.2B), and Japan ($15.6B).

With a competitive economy, a fast growing GDP which improves every year, and the world's largest export market in semiconductors and other electrical goods, Malaysia has a lot to offer people relocating abroad. In 2019 Malaysia is ranked the 9th best destination for expatriates to live and work in, according to a new study. Expatriates (or expats) here are generally happy with the affordability of life in the country and find it easy to settle in.
