There are so many stunning places in Bavaria, Germany. But with a very limited time, it was necessary to choose just a few.
Königssee and Obersee Lakes were a must-visit in the Bavarian Alps for me. Gorgeous lakes, surrounded by mountains that offer boat rides and beautiful hikes, stole my heart. However, prices were crazy here, and it was very overcrowded.
The next must-see in the Bavarian Alps were Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle. They're conveniently located close to each other. It is possible to explore both in one day. However, I would love to spend more time here and see all the beautiful trails in the area. There's also a beautiful Alpsee lake, a short hike from Hohenschwangau Castle. It's a wonderful place to enjoy the breathtaking nature. Of course, this is a very popular destination in the Bavarian Alps. Neuschwanstein Castle is depicted on many postcards, magnets and other souvenirs from Germany. So there were lines to shuttle buses, to the famous bridge, which is the best viewpoint of the Neuschwanstein Castle, etc. But it wasn't too bad on the day of our visit.
Füssen was something very unexpected. It was supposed to be just a great place to stay near Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles. It's just a 15-minute drive from these Bavarian gems, and stays here were much cheaper than in Schwangau. But Füssen was much more than just a good stay. It was perfect! Fussen has turned out to be my favourite place in all of Germany so far. Spectacular Bavarian Alps, raging river, cozy town, beautiful castle and turquoise lake - Füssen has it all! We immersed ourselves in its charming vibe and fell in love with this town. And it wasn't crowded at all. In peaceful and charming Fussen, we regretted that it was only a one-day stay. It's one of the most beautiful places in the Bavarian Alps.
