Fishery Audit #5 takes me to a tiny fishery in Sutton-in-Ashfield where a good old pal Ben got me fishing a few years back. Today I was supposed to be filming a feeder fishing video but the weather and a recent netting of the venue gave me other ideas.
There’s a Carp in here around 27lb and I know this from speaking to the capturer and seeing footage of the fish being weighed just a few years ago. There’s also some Ghosties which I’ve seen myself on hot days here too. So who knows, maybe the netting company had taken them. If anybody has the details of the netting company please drop the details in the comments.
I can’t stress this enough from speaking to locals today, DO NOT give any money to ANYBODY unless they can provide you with a Bailiff Warrant Card and issue you with a day ticket EACH! I’m going to contact the council and display my interest for the place and hopefully appoint some local bailiffs on the venue. Fishing doesn’t have to be as expensive as it used to be either, I’m a huge fan of offering angling as cheap as possible and this would be a great opportunity for anglers who enjoy their fishing here.
Safety concerns start at the lack of safety rings and the pegs. Nobody needs to be injured for wanting a days fishing and no day tickets should be paid for in the venues current state.
If anybody local to the venue has any information for me it would be much appreciated and if I can help bring this venue back into life I’d love to.
If you have a venue in mind that you’d like me to visit then let me know in the comments. It’s always nice to see venues I’m not familiar with and show them off to the world.
