STORYLINE
Dozens of protesters on Sunday marched to the main bullring in the capital of Peru to protest against the start of the bullfighting season.
The protest was organised by the Peru Anti-bullfighting Association but gathered less protesters than they expected.
"What kind of peace culture is projecting these kind of shows? Every Sunday, they support the massacre of innocent animals," said William Soberon, one of the protesters.
There were no reported incidents unlike over a week ago when a similar protest was dispersed by the anti-riot police with tear gas.
The highlight of Lima's bullfighting season is the Lord of Miracles Bullfighting Festival which takes place during several weeks from the end of October.
This festival is one of the most important bullfighting events in South America, attracting important bullfighters from Latin America and Europe and numerous fans.
"For me, bullfighting is the most wonderful thing in the world. What can I say? We enjoy it for cultural and traditional and other reasons," said a fan.
