Do this to UV protect your clothing. You don't have to buy special UV clothing if you do this. You should always wash your linen and cotton clothing in hot water and not cold water if you want to increase the UPF protection of the clothing. Tighter weave fabrics have a higher upf protection and washing clothes in hot water shrinks the fabric making the weave tighter. That's the short of it.
