Signature whistles are reshaping our understanding of dolphin communication!

At Dolphin Quest, we’re making strides in marine science by cataloging our dolphins’ unique whistles. Each dolphin creates a distinct whistle, like a personal “name,” early in life that helps them recognize and interact within their social circles.

Thank you to the Bruck Lab (@bruck_lab) for highlighting how dolphins remember and identify each other’s signature whistles—often for life—uncovering the depth of their social systems.

Through studying these whistles, we’re gaining crucial insights into how noise pollution might impact dolphins’ ability to connect and communicate. This will help us create lasting change for their wild counterparts!
