(8 Jan 2018) Thousands of technology fanatics are gathering in Las Vegas this week for the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) festivities.
The week of tech love kicked off on Sunday evening with the opening of the CES Unveiled event - the place where smaller companies and startups get a chance to show their products before the giants like Samsung, LG, Google and Sony steal the show.
The HipAir, made by French startup Helite, aims to help prevent injuries.
It detects a fall and inflates two air bags to protect the hip area.
Inventist, the mobility company based in Washington State that previous has released the Orbit wheels and Hovertrax mobility devices are showing off its latest invention, the connected IOTrax device.
One of the stars of the show is this little robot. "Buddy" - made by French startup Blue Frog Robotics - is a Google Assistant voice-controlled robot that can roam around a family home.
The robot can turn on music, answer simple questions and even show a live feed of the house when the owners are away.
The sheer volume of home appliances, gadgets and robots for the home that are interconnected means that technology is reaching an integration moment, according to Werner Goertz, Research Director at the Gartner research institute.
Another French company, Care OS, is showing a concept of a smart mirror that helps the user put on makeup, gives advice on skin care and can even help taking selfies. It can also be integrated with other smart devices in the home, such as smart hair dryers.
