After a fierce battle Kratos, Atreus, and Freya defeat Odin. Despite Atreus trying to convince him to give up on his quest for knowledge into the green void, Odin refuses and Atreus takes away his soul, storing it inside one of the magic marbles. This was probably what he would be trying to do to save Kratos life if that moment ever happened.
Sindri comes out of nowhere, takes the marble, and ends with the Allfather once and for all. The giant Surtr-ragnarok makes its very late entrance to end the fight with Odin but Freyr gives the party one final chance to escape using Angrbroda’s portal while he stays back and holds the giant´s attack with his sword, culminating a well-earned redemption arch. They all barely escape, Atreus gets knocked out while he tries to save his father and wakes up.
Atreus finds Thrud and her mother and says his condolences. Thrud mentions she can’t stay for long in Midgar, you can later find her in the desert of Alfheim right by her father’s hammer. Lady Sif, she can later be found in Freyr’s camp by Eldesvini’s side who you find a few minutes later.
We later find Skjoldr who I think will eventually end up in Vanaheim or Midgar, but he first goes on a quest to find the coin that Odin gives Kratos and Atreus at the beginning of the game.
Up next are Lunda, Beyla, and Byggvir, who raise a toast to Freir. The elven couple always appears in the same place, but I’m guessing they’ll go back to Freyr’s camp in Vanaheim eventually. Meanwhile, Lunda continues to help you as your dwarven blacksmith of choice, but first, you and the rest of Brok’s friends make a quick stop to attend his funeral in Svartalfheim.
Jormurgander ends up disappearing in the middle of Ragnarok, but Mimir seems to have a theory of what happened to him, that involves some weird time traveling situation.
Freya says goodbye to Atreus, and joins Kratos and Mimir in her quest to bring peace and order to the realms. Upon visiting Charlie the turtle she apologizes and promises to earn his trust back, but confesses to Kratos she needs someone to take care of him permanently.
Atreus says goodbye to his loyal pup AGAIN, but in a less traumatic way. If you explore Johunheim you’ll see him staying there with other wolves under Angrboda's care, with plenty of space to roam around and be happy. As for her, she has already fulfilled her destiny and went beyond by helping the crew escape from Ragnarok and setting Loki on his path to search for the giants and Kratos to unveil the final shrine.
On the way to the hidden shrine, they see the remains of Asgard that have crashed into the other realms, upon visiting each of these they’ll encounter the remaining forces of Asgard and discover their orders to assemble in Muspelheim. Kratos and Freya defeat Gna, ending the upcoming rebellion despite Freya offering a way out for her old friend.
Back to Angrboda, once they reach the end of the mountain path she reveals a secret shrine that belonged to Faye, where Atreus learns how her mother was the one responsible for destroying the one that told their story back at Johtunheim, where Kratos learned about his Destiny. Atreus finally reveals the existence of other giants and his intention to go alone on his path, Kratos, realizes this is the moment he has been training Atreus for and lets him go.
Kratos begins to roam the room where he discovers the shrine had a not-so-secret back door that reveals what is Kratos own shrine! The three panels in the shrine show Kratos past and present, but also the future. The last panel portrays Kratos as a God that is finally loved, not feared. Freya and Mimir join Kratos on his new path. I don’t think Kratos and Freya are going to end up having some sort of romantic arch later in the series.
Yes! Loki was right, and Tyr is alive! After talking to him you can later find Tyr traveling across the realms having a moment to reflect on a multitude of things. There seems to be an order for you to find him, and I’ve only managed to do so in 4 realms on my own. But the point here is that with Tyr back in the picture, he will prove to be a very powerful ally for Freya, Kratos, and Mimir, as he is a master diplomat that will ensure the wellbeing of the realms under Kratos’ rule. At least, for now.
