When Greece won the Euro in 2004, it made them the weakest team to ever win a major competition. I mean you can’t really understand how they pulled it off. Because they didn’t have big names or experience in big competitions; they hadn’t played in the Euros for 24 years. And before that, they only qualified for two other tournaments: the UEFA Euro 1980 and the 1994 FIFA World Cup. And they never won a game and scored just one goal when they lost 3-1 to Czechoslovakia, and they managed to collect one point with a draw against West Germany. And in the 1994 World Cup, they lost all three matches. That’s why what they did in 2004 shocked everyone.
