(11 Apr 2017) The passion of Christ was re-enacted at Mendiola Plaza outside the Philippine presidential palace in Manila on Tuesday, as part of a protest denouncing the campaign against illegal drugs run by the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
A man wore a crown of thorns and had fake blood painted on his body to resemble Jesus Christ.
He then walked through the streets carrying a cross before being tied to it.
He was accompanied by protesters dressed as Roman soldiers, who also chanted "stop, stop the killings" while waving placards.
The protest was organised by the labour group the Centre for United and Progressive Workers.
