From a commercial cassette released on the Abbey label (CACA 585) as no. 7 in the second series of “In Quires and Places”, with the choir of Coventry Cathedral, directed by Paul Wright, and Christopher Argent (organ).

Handel composed his famous anthem (HWV 258) for the coronation of King George II in 1727. The text is based on 1 Kings I, 38-40:

Zadok the Priest and Nathan the Prophet anointed Solomon King. And all the people rejoiced, and said: God save the King! Long live the King! May the King live for ever. Amen, Alleluia.
