We have our first look at the new Superman movie, and while it looks very promising, fans are still split over the suit design.

Superman’s suit has always been iconic. From the comic books to the big screen, his costume design reveals his muscular physique that represents his super strength.

Recent adaptations of Superman by both Tyler Hoechlin and Henry Cavill, embrace the figure-hugging suits that accentuate their physiques. Even the suits of Brandon Routh and Christopher Reeve, while more classic in design, still let some of their muscle shine through.

And it’s not a case of needing padding, as David bulked up to over 240 lbs, but the suit almost completely hides all of his hard work.

Well the reasoning could be quite simple. Superman is a bulletproof alien, with incredible strength that can shoot lasers from his eyes - so having a softer suit makes him less intimidating and friendly, showing the caring, protective side of his nature.
