In this clip, Tommy a former Pit describes in detail how he used teh miners safety lamp to test for gas. This is a must have resource for anyone teaching this topic. This project was funded by BECTA and was made with the help of Age Concern. The project itself was the inspiration and ideas of Roy Huggins, a history teacher from Mexborough School. He was awarded a National Teaching Award for his work on this project. This resource has been uploaded to You Tube in the hope that the oral history of the people of Doncaster will not be lost.
