The Hyundai Bayon, unveiled in 2021, stands as the smallest crossover SUV in Hyundai's lineup. It is often described as a slightly taller, boxier version of the i20 supermini, and thus, it is a hatchback that's easier to get in and out of. It's a small SUV with a surprisingly low driving position, which some buyers might prefer over loftier setups found in other SUVs​​.

The Bayon carries on Hyundai's trend for unique names on its taller cars as opposed to the number badges on the standard hatchbacks. The car features grumpy-looking, creasy styling with plenty of LEDs on either end. However, it does not offer four-wheel drive. Instead, it comes with a 48-volt hybrid-boosted 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo engine. Inside, the Bayon shares its dashboard, screens, and climate controls with the latest i20. This means that it is feature-packed and well-assembled, although some parts might come off as a bit shiny-grey. It offers plenty of space, and visibility is a strong suit, especially with the driver aids and safety gadgetry available on the top 'Ultimate' trim​​.

The Bayon is a sensible, spacious, and inoffensive car to drive. It does many things well, such as providing safe, easy-going transport, but it doesn't particularly excel in any specific area. Despite this, it's well-priced, cheap to run, and provides impressive value for money​.

The car's performance specs include a maximum top speed of 114 mph (183 km/h) and an acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in 10.7 seconds. Its fuel tank capacity is 10.6 gallons (40 L)​3​. The dimensions of the Bayon are also notable: it has a length of 164.57 inches (418.0 cm), width of 69.88 inches (177.5 cm), and height of 59.06 inches (150.0 cm). It can tow up to 2447 lbs (1110 kg) and its curb weight stands at 2692 lbs (1221 kg)​​.
