Watch this short video to find out why and how to trim the stem of your Mooncup menstrual cup.
Once the Mooncup is positioned as low as it will comfortably sit, the end of the stem should sit just inside your vagina.
If you find that, when positioned correctly, the Mooncup is uncomfortable when sitting or walking, or pinches the vaginal opening, then you probably need to trim the stem a little bit at a time.
Vaginal length varies, so the stem of the Mooncup menstrual cup is designed to be trimmed if needed.
Make sure you feel confident with the position and the removal of your Mooncup before trimming the stem. Practise removing your Mooncup without using the stem before trimming it. Some users find that they need to remove the stem completely.

The Mooncup® is the original silicone menstrual cup. Made in the UK, the Mooncup holds three times as much as a tampon, making it great for heavy days. And, because it’s non-absorbent, it won’t cause dryness when your period’s light. You only need one Mooncup that pays for itself after 6-8 months – you’re then saving that monthly spend on sanitary protection.
We’re here for your Mooncup journey. We offer a unique telephone and email Advice Service run by medical health professionals who can be contacted with any Mooncup usage queries – here to help you make the switch.
