The teaching profession in the United States is facing significant challenges, with recent data highlighting a concerning decline:
As of 2023, the teaching profession has reached its lowest employment levels in 50 years. Interest in teaching among incoming college students and the number of prospective teachers earning licenses have also declined to historic lows.
In 2024, approximately 86% of public schools are struggling to hire educators, with more than 36,500 teacher vacancies nationwide. Notably, 35% of teachers are considering leaving the profession within the next two years.
