The original Nintendo console – the Famicom (or Family Computer) could be argued as the first console which took home gaming to the next level with over 1000 games available for it. This is the console that spawned the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in the USA and Europe, but was a different looking machine in its birthplace in Japan with different games and also a different format of game box.
Like other Nintendo games, the boxes for the Famicom were cardboard, which meant that they were less robust and aged badly (especially when compared to Sega hard cased games from the Master System and Genesis/Megadrive). They were prone to ripping, being crushed and easily damaged from day to day use. The console was released in 1983 so most games are over 35 years old, and cardboard does not age well. This is where Retroshell comes in!
At RetroShell we want to provide the best products for video game preservation. Our products are precision made of the finest 4mm acrylic and will offer your precious retro games the best protection from damage. They are designed to stack vertically and can also be aligned horizontally allowing you to showcase your collection in all its glory, whilst keeping them safe from knocks and bumps.
Our bespoke cases ensure a snug fit with a custom trapdoor to easily access the boxes so you can continue to play these timeless classics.
Please note, these do not offer protection from UV and we always recommend keeping them out of bright light which can fade the boxes and designs.
