Hundreds of people have been forced to flee their homes and take refuge in makeshift camps after heavy rain in Central Java, Indonesia, loosened soil and collapsed a hill, setting off a landslide on Friday that killed at least 32 villagers and left 76 others missing under piles of mud.
A search and rescue mission was continuing in Jemblung and nearby villages in Banjarnegara district on Sunday after at least 570 people had fled their homes and taken refuge in at least 5 different locations. The landslide buried more than 100 houses late on Friday.
Seasonal rains and high tides in recent days have caused dozens of landslides and widespread flooding across much of Indonesia.
