Finally, Sea Pigeon our Moody 33S is free from its winter shackles and back onto the river Exe. After a winter in the canal basin we have had lots of upgrades and repairs over the winter, the salon is cleaned and ready for departure the following day. We suffer an issue with problematic steering before exiting the Exeter Canal lock going into the open River Exe with a flotilla of other yachts. Dodging the notorious and ever-changing labyrinth of sand banks of the river Exe we make our way down stream on a chilly early spring tide in a convoy of other yachts. We pass a sunken yacht who fell foul of the winter winds on the Exe. Finally, we made it onto our mooring buoy ready for a season of sailing, but a ‘Beast from the East’ threatened and was bringing snow to London and very high winds traveling at 50 mph west towards us, so, we decided that we would wait for another day to sail.
