Cold temperatures can sometimes make even the most motivated, energetic people want to stay inside under the covers. But physical activity is so important for all of us year-round! One great thing to do is go walking. If it’s icy out, or too cold out, a lot of people will go for a walk in a mall. It doesn’t have to be for long. Even a walk for twenty or thirty minutes is so good for your health. Talking a walk with someone else is also a great way to catch-up with someone in your life. Other ways that people stay active during the winter are swimming, dancing, ice skating with family and friends, joining a fitness class, or doing yoga. If those things sound like a little too much for you right now, there are simple exercises that you can do at home every day that don’t require you to have anything more than a sturdy chair. Look them up online, or even better – talk to your doctor about the best ways for you to stay physically active! We all know that being physical active can help you maintain a healthy weight, but it has so many other benefits. For example, it helps reduce stress, boost your self-confidence, improve your sleep, and, if you have a physical activity partner, it can bring you closer to the other people in your life!
