Entitlement for family on death of NPS covered Govt servant
• As per rule 20 of CCS (NPS) Rules 2021. On death of the NPS covered official if given option under rule 10 or default option family will be paid benefits under CCS Pension Rules.
• If the death is attributable to Govt service, CCS (Extraordinary Pension) Rules will apply.
• In such cases, the Govt contribution and return to NPS shall be transferred to Govt accounts.
• The remaining accumulated pension corpus shall be paid in one lump sum to the nominee.
• If no nominee, the amount should be paid to legal heirs.
• Option under Rule 10 is given for NPS the benefits will be as per the NPS Regulations 2015.
• The employees covered under NPS also eligible for Gratuity. Maximum is 20 lakhs.
