Spending a day on the cruise or even a week is such a dreamy vacation for many of us. The ocean waves, the beautiful fishes and rest aquatic life, the cool breeze and not to forget the sea sickness. For sure the sickness isn’t as dreadful as is having to return to normal routine after this small vacay ends. Well it certainly isn’t ending anytime soon for Mike and Ashley Toland, the faces of the famous YouTube channel Barefoot Sailing. We’ll tell you more about this couple and their content in this video. But before that make sure you’ve subscribed to our channel and pressed that bell icon so you don’t miss any updates from us.
So Mike and Ashley Toland are a couple having the time of their life. Wondering if it’s their golden time or blue time?
Since they spend whole of their day sailing over the ocean in a 27-foot Odin 820 Sailor Trailer. They’ve nicknamed their ride SV Split Personality. It’s specially designed for coastal and inland waterways. It’s not just a ship. It’s home for them. That is where they spend days and nights. Mike and Ashley worked in landscaping for years and saved pretty much that would afford them a $59,000 boat.
The boat has taken them to Miami, Tampa Bay, Key West Tree Island and many more places. How cool is it to experience the cool breeze, splash of ocean water, chirping birds and the loving sunset and sunrise view each and everyday. While it sounds cool, it really doesn’t take much time for the experience to go from ‘happening’ to ‘mishap’. The boat can be shaky, the winds can be strong and the weather can be terrifying enough to make you wonder why you got into it in the first place. These are the kind of risks that obviously need to be considered. Mike and Ashley were aware of them and still took a brave decision of going ahead with their plan. Commendable valour!
They are also quite entertaining and purely natural when facing the camera. These are not my words, just telling what their audience feels about them. In their first video 2 raccoons can be seen hijacking their dumpster while Mike tries to chase them away. In another video on their channel, a friend crashed his jet ski into their boat. But luckily there weren’t any serious damages to their boat or any lives. They’ve also had sharks making guest appearances in their videos.
It’s difficult to understand how they manage to edit their videos. How can someone concentrate or for that matter even think about working in the middle of a gigantic water body.
Guess work is work after all. Puts food on the table. Or on boat in their case. They usually upload the videos of their trips as episodes.
The videos majorly feature Ashley posing in a bikini. A lot of their content is uncensored and hence not available on YouTube. That kind of content goes on Vimeo, accounting for a substantial portion of their income. They earn $2754/month through Vimeo. Their Patreon page too contributes towards financing their trips. They get $705/month through their crowdfunding campaigns on the platform.
YouTube ads give them $1104/month and brand sponsorships $657/month. So in an aggregate they make approx. They reportedly make $189,036 annually from their YT channel. They have an estimated net worth of over $450,000. All that for just riding on a boat and posing to the camera?
Jeez. Sounds like something I could do. But I wouldn’t because I just happen to not like water
Their YouTube channel presently has 298,000 subscribers and has received over 80 million views so far. Guess people are living the sea through their channel. That’s actually winning part of their content. It just soaks the viewers in. In fact I too have soaked much of your time in this video, so won’t be pulling it any further.
Hope you enjoyed the video. If you did do like it and share with your friends.
Thanks for watching. See you soon!
