Apple gets a bruising from the US Senate and bad weather in France hurts fruit sales

A Senate report says Apple has been avoiding billions of dollars of taxes. The report comes ahead of an appearance by chief executive Tim Cook on the issue. Meanwhile, some of France's richest people are paying more than 100% of their income in tax. After Yahoo paid $1.1 billion for Tumblr, shares edge up and the company's boss says it won't "screw up" the deal. In South Africa, the black middle class has doubled in size in ten years.
