The iconic Niger Bridge has become a symbol of national enterprise. The bridge, which connects Onitsha and Asaba, was completed in December 1965. Dumez, a French construction company, constructed it.
During the Nigerian Civil War, the Niger Bridge was destroyed but it was rehabilitated during President Goodluck Ebele's Jonathan administration.
To date, millions of people travel daily from Asaba, Delta State's capital, to Onitsha and they move to and from all parts of the country.
