From my understanding, the Gillette Mach 3 was the first 3 blade razor produced by Gillette.
The idea is that the first blade grips the hair lifting it up from the skin, essentially stretching it, and the second blade continues that grabbing and lifting and by the time the third blade gets there as the hair is lifted, it cuts it completely.
I performed on myself the "Credit Card" test, where I shaved the right side of my face with a single blade, then shaved the left side of my face with the Mach 3, and the Mach 3 side was noticeably smoother. I can feel the smoothness with my own hands as well, but you get to hear it with the Credit Card test.
I then noticed that they started making different colored versions, though the same, just different colors, as I was excited for this razor, I bought every version that I seen being made, and here is the end result of that hunt.
