Mark Astarita, Director of Fundraising at the British Red Cross and outgoing Chair of the Institute of Fundraising, welcomes delegates to the 2014 National Convention, run by the Institute of Fundraising.

Europe's biggest conference for fundraisers took place again at the Hilton London Metropole and ran from 7-9 July 2014.

In his rousing speech, he talked about the misrepresentation that fundraisers faced from sections of the media, and the importance of the #proudfundraiser campaign launched by the Institute.

He said: "I honestly believe I have the best job in the world. If I do the right things today, I know we at the Red Cross can save lives tomorrow. And that to me is so very cool".
