After his victory in Milan, the 2021 World Barista Champion visited Simonelli Group HQ.
Diego Campos told us about his first emotion as WBC champion “It’s a dream – he said - I never thought I could live”. Diego Campos attended two #WorldBaristaChampionship "and each event taught me to have discipline, to have personality, to do things right. And I realized that it’s like a summary of all the tears that I have been shed over 13 years of training to achieve that goal”.
We love his Maverick personality his long training, research and, why not, his tears, to achieve what he wanted to offer in that cup he prepared during the competition.
Diego’s victory spotlighted Colombia as an important coffee producing country. “Today in Italy we showed everyone that Colombia can produce and can prepare the best coffee in the world”– said Luis Fernando Velez, CEO and founder of Amor Perfecto, a Colombian specialty coffee roaster.
Also Luis Fernando Velez shared his personal story, starting from a small gift shop up to the foundation of Amor Perfecto.
