The impact of capacitor selection on power integrity will be presented based on a Boost Converter practical example. The impact of parasitic elements on the behavior of a capacitor and the selection of a suitable capacitor technology for the application/function will be identified. REDEXPERT and LT Spice are very useful tools to understanding the behavior of a capacitor particularly under practical operating conditions (parasitic elements, temperature, DC bias, Impedance, Life).
