Evaluating Rough and Cut Morganite With Meg Berry by GIA. What is morganite, and can it be cut into a variety of shapes? In this video, watch expert gem cutter Meg Berry evaluate and cut rough morganite crystals, while providing personal examples from her own collection of morganite gemstone. Meg Barry explains that morganite is cut in all standard shapes and sizes, as well as in unique designer cuts. Morganite crystal can be very large, so large faceted stones are more common than with many other gemstones. Like aquamarine, another beryl variety, faceted morganite usually does not have inclusions that are visible to the eye. Less-transparent material is often carved or cut as cabochons. Like other gemstones, subtle differences in quality factors can impact morganite value.
