In this edition of #Hisplemedia, we look at the story of Amilcar Cabral's revolution in Guinea and Cape Verde, the war of independence and his assassination by his own party member in January, 1973.
Amilcar Cabral was Guinea Bissau foremost revolutionary leader.
He championed the nationalist movement of Guinea-Bissau and the Cape Verde Islands and the subsequent war of independence in Guinea-Bissau.
Amilcar Cabral was shot and killed by his own party man who was not happy with the running of the party.
But the attack was believed to be instigated by the Portuguese agents who wanted him out at all cost.
#AmílcarCabral’s assassination is one of a long line of important assassinations of African leaders by the West in order to maintain its political and economic control in the continent.
Aside from being a revolutionary leader and hero, Cabral is acknowledged globally as one of Africa's most renowned twentieth-century thinkers, whose influence extended well beyond the African continent.
