The American flag is flown at half-staff on the White House to pay tribute to the late US President Jimmy Carter. The former president and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who rose from humble beginnings in rural Georgia to lead the nation, died at the age of 100. Carter had been in hospice care since mid-February 2023 at his home in Plains, Georgia.
