This overview of the DTS (Diversified Technical Systems) ARS, angular rate sensor, is hosted by Steve Pruitt, President of DTS. Angular rate sensors are used for measuring high dynamic rotational events (0:12). DTS angular rate sensors have ranges of up to 50,000 degrees per second which is much higher than any other angular rate sensor on the market.
This video covers 3 models offered by DTS, which are small and light, weighing as little as 3 gms. As Steve explains they have range options from +/- 300 deg/sec, on up to the newest angular rate sensor model, the ARS HG, at +/- 50k deg/sec (0:38).
The ARS PRO and HG are very tolerant to high shock up to 10000g. DTS offers several mounting solutions (0:54) so users can mount 3 ARS units and 3 accelerometers for 6 DOF measurement capabilities.
Originally developed in response to regulations from national highway and safety administration for rear impact testing (1:13), these sensors have since become the industry standard for biomechanics and are also used in dummy (anthropomorphic testing device) for measuring high dynamic rotational events.
The ARS HG model, was designed in response to the needs in blast testing (1:28) and is the only product on the market that can accurately measure high rotational rates (up to 50k deg per/sec) even in high linear shock environments, such as under body blast testing done by military and defense.
