Nuclear submarines to be built in Australia under AUKUS could potentially be bigger than their US and UK counterparts.
Expected to weigh 10,000 tonnes, Australian subs will be bigger, better, faster and bolder, an evolution of Britain's Astute-class submarines.
Australia's current Collins-class vessels weigh 3,300 tonnes, while the US Virginia-class subs weigh around 7,000 tonnes.
They will be built from Australian steel if the metal passes testing requirements.
