I’ve seen a reel recently where a lady spends over $400 a MONTH on her 30 chickens. 🤯
No hate to her, but y’all that ain’t realistic!!
⭐️Here’s my breakdown:
👉🏻35+ chickens (listen. Mine free range! That cuts down on cost IMO. If you lock your chickens up, they will stand there & eat. All day. They are foragers.)
👉🏻2 bags of feed a month (@nutrenafeed or @purinafeedgreatness ) about $25 each. Little bit less than that typically. 50lb bags each.
👉🏻Pine Shavings once a month $7. No idea the size of bag, look it up at tractor supply.
👉🏻One bag of @first_saturday_lime ($30ish) lasts me an almost an entire year. I use it in nesting boxes, in my coop, and throughout my yard where the chickens dust bathe.
👉🏻Medicines? Maybeeee $20 a year?! I mean, i bought quite a few “medicines” years ago….and they are still here lol. My chickens rarely need “medical attention.” (& yeah. I have a 1 legged chicken & had a blind one once.)

Again, if you spend $400 a month on yours. Cool for you! But that ain’t realistic for us 😘 Just trying to show y’all the other side! please don’t think you have to buy “expensive” feed for your chickens, and have the best coops & medicines money can buy. Chickens are SO low maintenance! ❤️
