The 2023 KIA Sportage is equipped with a Smarstream G1.6 T-Gdi engine which runs on petrol. On paper, the turbo mechanical heart is capable of producing up to 180 hp of power and 265 Nm of torque. This performance beats the capabilities of competing engines such as the Honda CR-V. This is natural, because the CR-V uses a smaller engine, namely a 1.5 liter turbo.

This engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT E-Shift transmission which can be operated with paddle shifts from behind the steering wheel. Not to forget, the complete ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) safety features on this medium SUV are also equipped.
