Activist and author Zion Lights says without nuclear energy there is “no way” of achieving net zero without decimating people’s living standards.
She said as more people are lifted out of poverty, countries need more energy.
“Britain is building nuclear power stations now, but it takes us a long time, it shouldn’t take a long time,” she told Sky News Australia.
“You can build new reactors in three years, Japan has done it, Switzerland has done it.
“So in ten years, you could build enough reactors to de-carbonise and maintain your quality of life.”
