The Palapye District Development Plan (DDP) 9 is the strategic planning and programming document for developments to be undertaken in the District between 2025 and 2030. It sets out the overall development goals, direction and priorities for the District. The plan is premised on innovation for economic growth to achieve prosperity for all, executed through adoption of the National Reset & Reclaim Agenda (2022), Mindset Change (2023), The National Transformation Strategy (2024) and Vision 2036. Effective delivery will be facilitated by robust monitoring and evaluation to strengthen the district’s economic growth, aligned to the government planning machinery.
The Palapye District Development Plan 9 spread its implementation over 6 years and was deliberately coined to run parallel with the political electoral cycle. The desired implication is identified priorities, policies and strategies aligned with the political intents in the short to medium term. The plan is advised by the National Transformation Strategy and unlike prior Plans, which were developed by the Ministry of Finance, it is developed under a different administrative management, specifically the newly established National Planning Commission (NPC), under the Office of the President. This change followed the rationalisation exercise of Government institutions in April 2022 that delinked the planning function from the Ministry of Finance. The mandate of the NPC has been set to provide inclusive leadership in national strategy development planning, implementation, coordination, performance monitoring and evaluation.
Palapye DDP 9 as with previous Plans recognizes citizens’/community involvement in decision making. The consultation process started at the communities through the Village Extension Teams, Kgotla meetings were conducted in all villages within Palapye District(Palapye, Topisi, Moreomabele, Radisele, Mogome, Mokgware, Ratholo, Moremi, Lesenepole, Kgagodi, Mogapinyana, Diloro, Maunatlala,Seolwane, Mosweu, Mokokwana, Lerala, Majwaneng, Manaledi, Goo – Tau, Goo – Sekgweng, Matlhakola, Mokungwana, Lecheng, Malaka, Tamasane)
