Keeping safe in the kitchen while cooking is especially important. Statistically, cooking fires are the number one cause of home fires and home fire injuries, and unattended cooking is the leading cause of fires that start in the kitchen.
There are easy prevention tips for staying safe while cooking, such as:
• Be alert and minimize distractions.
• Keep flammable materials away from a heating source.
• If you need to leave, turn off your burners and oven.
• Create a kid-free zone around the cooking area.
