For over a century, Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive no. 587 has always had the ability to put smiles on faces and memories in hearts. But her journey from then to now has been anything but average. So let’s recap 100 years of 587’s history to show how unique this locomotive's journey has been.
2024 UPDATE: Ownership of No. 587 transferred from the Indiana Transportation Museum to a private individual in 2021. It remains stored in Ravenna, Ky., with the Kentucky Steam Heritage Corporation. Future plans are unknown.
