The most successful workplaces are environments that encourage constructive feedback and collaboration throughout the workday. In the same regard, we know that the most successful school communities are those in which educators have the proper time and support to coach their teammates – every single day - and help them improve their teaching craft for the benefit of our kids.
Teacher Leadership & Collaboration (TLC), formerly known as Differentiated Roles, is a type of leadership model that’s been a part of many Denver Public Schools for the past three years. Just like sports teams who are guided by a coach, teacher leaders provide support and feedback to their fellow teammates. Yet rather than having the role of coach the whole school day, senior team leads still have half the school day to continue to do what they love the most: teach.
Watch this DPS Features video highlighting how teams at Garden Place Academy and Martin Luther King Jr. Early College are using feedback to grow stronger teams within their school communities.
