We're looking at the question on everyone's lips this holiday season: Which Christmas tree is better for the environment?

We're looking at the best Christmas tree for your apartment or house this holiday season! Is the fake tree that lasts longer better for the planet, or is the biodegradable real Christmas tree that only lasts one year?
Fake trees tend to last a long time, but they're made of plastic which will never truly biodegrade. And if you already own an artificial or plastic Christmas tree, the most sustainable option is definitely to KEEP IT and use it for as long as you can!
Real trees on the other hand form part of a biodegradable loop, meanwhile they are taking carbon out of the atmosphere as they grow. However, it seems pretty wasteful to cut a tree down to put in your house for a couple of weeks before throwing it out. After the holiday season is over, real Christmas trees can be chipped for multiple purposes and can also be put in rivers to help with fish spawning: [ Ссылка ]
There are arguments on both sides as to which tree is more eco-friendly. Perhaps the most sustainable Christmas tree is to buy small, potted live tree (native to your area!) which you can decorate every year, watch it grow, and when it gets too big, plant it out in your backyard to support the local ecology!
Everybody loves trees, so whether you have a real tree, a fake tree or a living Christmas tree, remember the holiday spirit and treat each other and nature with respect!
