Forbes magazine once labeled Burford as one of the top ten idyllic places on earth to live. Despite its small size, Burford is considered a town. Also known as the gateway to the Cotswolds. For more videos on the Cotswolds try these...

The town is adjacent to the A40 road which links nearby Oxford to the Cotswolds and beyond. You will find free parking throughout the town but the best car park for visitors is along Church Lane. There is no train station with the nearest being Shipton under Wychwood, Charlbury, or Hanborough. Buses run from Burford to the nearest big town which is Witney. Public toilets (20p) are available at the Church Lane car park or on the High St next to the turning for Church Lane.
Burford is easy to explore due to its small size. The main points of interest are its medieval buildings and independent shops. Just like Stow on the Wold, it is a great place for a stopover or a base for further exploration of the Cotswolds. The main attraction locally is Burford Wildlife Park which is 2 miles south of the town.

Eat and sleep recommendations are taken from TripAdvisor's ratings and handpicked by myself to reflect their closeness to the centre of town. I personally do not endorse these recommendations, they are presented as options for your further consideration.
